Understanding the benefits of an Elder Law attorney

An elder law attorney has completed specialized education to help protect your assets from nursing home dissipation, assure your spouse will have enough assets for well-being, and protect your assets for your children.

Attorneys with this certification are most helpful with long-term care planning, end-of-life issues, housing assistance and options, elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, age discrimination in employment, the legal rights of residents of skilled care facilities, services of the Area Agency on Aging, and federal and state legislation impacting older adults.

It is beneficial to meet with an Elder Law attorney before we are in the advanced stages of aging because there is a five year lookback for protecting assets.
